I started my career with West Sussex County Council in 1985, working in the finance department, and progressing to the internal audit department. Here, I worked with a team carrying out audits of schools, nursing homes, and police stations.
In 1989 I began working for a firm of Chartered Accountants. I took my Accounting Technicians Examinations which I passed with distinction, and then went on to train as a Chartered Accountant. I qualified in July 1994. During my time with this firm I had many roles, starting as a junior accounts clerk, progressing to an audit manager, and tax manager.
In 2000, I was employed by a larger firm of accountants as an audit manager.
In 2001, I joined a small accountancy practice. There were only two of us qualified as Chartered Accountants, and I therefore went back to doing the job I loved - accounts preparation, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations etc., as well as preparation of personal tax returns, audits, and charity accounts.
In 2008 I set up my own accountancy practice, R S Hall and Co, offering a more efficient service, with a personal face and style, and sensible prices. I am a general practitioner, with many years’ experience, and deal with a wide range of clients.
